Fundraising for Naming the faculty lounge after late Prof. C Manohar Reddy
This refers to our efforts to raise funds for naming a classroom after Late Professor C Manohar Reddy. In the past, our alumni had seeded and wholeheartedly supported the naming of two classrooms after iconic faculty members – Late Professors PN Thirunarayana and Vatsala Nagarajan.
Prof. C Manohar Reddy, popularly referred to as CMR, superannuated from the services of the Institute after a long stint of 28+ years on 31st May 2017. He helped shape the lives of many alumni and was often considered as the “wise one”, ready to help students so that they could discover their strengths and become more self-aware. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly on 29 Dec 2018.
Prof. CMR did his PGIE from NITIE and FPM from IIMA. His areas of interest were in Personal Growth and Leadership Development. His interests included the application of Indian approaches like yoga and meditation in management training and education and self-development programs. He belonged to the OB & HRM area in IIMB.
On the request from alums and faculty members, we wish to name the “Faculty Lounge” after Late Prof. C Manohar Reddy. We plan to raise Rs 1 crores for this project and seek generous donations from alums to help raise funds and honor our teachers. Faculty and staff members have already seeded the initiative with contributions of just over Rs. 50 lakhs. We are looking at raising the balance amount of Rs. 50 lakhs through alumni.
The names of donors who contribute Rs 20 lakhs or more shall be displayed outside the Lounge. This can be contributed by individual alums or through batch contributions. Other donors (less than Rs 20 lakhs) can also contribute to this cause and avail of 100% tax deduction u/s 80G.

“Professor Manohar Reddy was not just a teacher, he was my mentor. Manohar was known for his strong opinions, convictions, and his commitment to helping people transform their lives. I’m sure many of you would have experienced this in your interactions with him.
Having spent over three decades in IIM Bangalore, Manohar was an institution himself. And his favourite place on the campus was the faculty lounge. He would sit there for hours, debating every manner of issue and idea. He was equally comfortable discussing the philosophic traditions, as he was talking about the stock market. In memory of the time he spent there, we would like to name the Faculty Lounge in his honour.”
